Recently, a number of states have passed, or are considering, legislation intended to legalize marijuana for recreational or medical use. It is important to note that the Department of Transportation regulations provide no authorized use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason. Moreover, the current law in the private sector generally permits non-union companies to require applicants and/or employees to take drug tests.
